Recently my wife and I had Rebecca re-design our bathroom which was no small feat. The original bathroom was the size of a closet with a design that came straight out of a Home Hardware catalogue. Since we are both busy, my wife and I don’t have the time to sweat every little detail so we needed someone with whom we could trust with both the design and budget. We gave Rebecca a general concept of what we were looking for and told her how much we were willing to spend. The end result was nothing short of amazing! Rebecca gave us the bathroom of our dreams with a design that not only fit our tastes but which also had a level of flair and creativity that exceeded our expectations. The colours, the finishes, the budget – everything was perfect! On top of being a great designer, Rebecca is also a wonderful personality which makes the experience that much more enjoyable. We know who we’ll be calling when it comes to our next re-design job! Thanks, Rebecca.

For first-time homeowners undergoing our first major renovation - an overhaul of our kitchen and dining room - having Rebecca’s calm guiding hand at the helm of the project was invaluable. Rebecca was designer and project manager, liaising with contractors and suppliers, making things appear very seamless to us. The renovation finished as scheduled and came in under budget and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Rebecca brought our vision to life and improved on it with simple touches that created the perfect space.

The Fall Cottage Life Show hosts 10,000 cottagers who are passionate about their lakeside retreats. In 2012, we decided to take on a bold new feature - our very first model cottage. We had the right building partner, Canada Builds, from Lindsay, ON, and they built a modular construction two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage that was trucked in as two pieces and assembled on site. But we needed the right designer to bring Cottage Life’s style, vibe, and feeling from our magazine pages. Enter Rebecca Purdy, a lifelong cottager, and a designer who is used to working under very tight timelines. In show business, timing is everything - the show must open on time - and we did it! A model cottage installed and decorated in less than 48 hours. With a tremendous amount of pre-planning and vision, Rebecca managed to bring life and vitality to our model cottage by using furnishings and decor items from the exhibitors in the show. She understood the importance of working with our exhibitors and made everyone feel like they were an important part of the project whether they were supplying a couch or a coat hook! Cottage style can mean different things to everyone, even within our own organization. I believe that Rebecca succeeded in bringing the right mix of new, modern, vintage, and ecclectic to the model cottage. Her talent, combined with her easy-going, get-‘er-done personality, made her the ideal choice for this project.

Rebecca is a designer for the “real way” in which people live in their homes. I worked with Rebecca on our bathroom remodel, and she is fantastic and highly skilled. She really took the time to listen to our wants and needs, and made them happen. She is able to execute the technical components of good design, meet her clients’ needs - all while respecting their budget. When you work with someone who knows her material and understands how contractors work, it saves money in the long run because you don’t make the costly mistakes that happen when you try to do it all on your own.

Our bathroom is just amazing.

We are a family with young kids, and her design – from the new floor plan to the chosen materials to the quality fixtures– really takes into account who we are and how we live. Rebecca also managed all the little details with our contractor, which was critical to the success of our project. Her attention to detail made the difference. We now have a gorgeous space that functions well, is easy to maintain and will work for decades to come.

For years, my husband did not want to hire a designer to assist with any renovation work. Now, after seeing Rebecca in action, he says he would not want to attempt a reno without her!

Rebecca took the time to listen to my needs and wants for my new kitchen. She also took the time to explain all of the design possibilities and the pros and cons of each. In the end, not only does my kitchen look straight out of a magazine, but the functionality completely exceeded my expectations!
